Knocking up (retempering): Reworking concrete or mortar that has already solidified. To make the mortar or concrete feasible, it might be necessary to whack it around or add more water. In reality, reworking mortar or concrete after it has begun to set is not suggested because it would drastically weaken the mortar’s overall strength.
