Kevlar: A trademark for an aromatic polyamide aramid fibre that is poor in compression but has good tensile strength and stiffness owing to the degree of module alignment along the fibre axis during the process of drawing. The most popular aramid fibre for the reinforcing of polymers at present is Kevlar 49.
