Active solar heating involves the direct use of solar energy for heating a building, typically for space heating or hot water. This type of system utilizes a solar collector, which is typically a panel or series of panels that absorb and collect solar energy from the sun. The collected energy is then used to directly heat the building or can be stored and used at a later time. The most common type of active solar heating in construction is a solar thermal system, which uses thermal energy from the sun to heat water for use in showers, sinks, or other appliances. Other types of active solar heating include solar air heating systems, which use the suns energy to heat air inside a building, and solar photovoltaic systems, which use solar energy to generate electricity.
