Eutectic: A liquid phase in metal alloys converts into two solid phases upon cooling from above the melting point. In metals, this is only visible at the microscopic level and corresponds to the chemical and physical properties of each alloying element in a metal alloy. In a metal alloy system, the eutectic point is the lowest melting composition. This type of response is common in the majority of steels.
