Back boiler is a type of heating system typically used in older homes that combines a traditional heating boiler with a conventional open–flue gas fire. The boiler is located at the rear of the fire and hot gases from the fire pass through the boiler before being released up the chimney. The heat generated by the fire is used to heat water, which is then stored in a hot water cylinder. This hot water can then be used to provide central heating and hot water throughout the home.
