Absolute assignment in construction is the process of assigning a contract or portion of a contract to a third party for completion. This assignment is “absolute“ because it cannot be revoked by the original contractor, and the third party is now responsible for completing the work. It is typically used when the original contractor is unable to complete the work, or when the scope of the project has changed and a different contractor is needed to complete the project.
